Kenosha, Wis (WRJN) – David Bogdala, a seasoned alderman and senior program and crisis manager at Abbott Laboratories, will assume the position of mayor in Kenosha today. Bogdala emerged victorious in the election, securing 53.03% of the vote against his opponent, City Plan Commissioner Lydia Spottswood. The win places Bogdala as the third mayor of Kenosha in the past 32 years, succeeding John Antaramian, who served from 1992 to 2008 and again from 2016 until yesterday.
Throughout his campaign, Bogdala prioritized public safety, infrastructure enhancement, neighborhood investments, and utilizing technology to improve efficiency and customer service.
Bogdala’s campaign received endorsements from notable figures, including outgoing Mayor John Antaramian, Kenosha City Council President Rocco LaMacchia Sr., the Kenosha Professional Firefighters Local 414, and the Kenosha Professional Police Association Board.
As the newly elected mayor, Bogdala will oversee various ongoing projects and initiatives in Kenosha. Notably, he will be involved in the approval process of a proposed gaming facility by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin in collaboration with Hard Rock International. The project, planned for a 60-acre site west of Interstate 94, has already received approval from the Kenosha County Board and the City of Kenosha Common Council but is still awaiting state and federal authorization.
Another major undertaking is a $450 million development project slated for downtown Kenosha. This project encompasses the construction of over 1,000 apartments and condominiums, office buildings, retail spaces, a market hall, and a hotel within a nine-block radius.
Alderman Bogdala becomes Mayor during organizational meetings scheduled for tonight.
