GREEN BAY, WI – (WGBW) – The Green Bay Area Public School District presented a balanced $311 million dollar 2024/25 budget to the board of education on Monday night.
Chief Financial Officer Angie Roble said the 2024/25 budget is balanced. Savings were found in the consolidation of three schools in the district.
The mill rate, which affects a resident’s property tax rate, will be decided after the November 5th referendum is voted on. If the referendum passes the mill rate would be $7.65. If the referendum does not pass the mill rate will go down to $5.30. Which would make any future referendums seem to increase taxes more.
“Strategically as a district we have always set ourselves up so that mill rate stays as steady or as stable as we possibly can,” Roble told the school board. “So we don’t see all of these peaks and valleys.”
A public hearing on the district budget will be held on October 28th at 5:30. Following the public hearing the school board will have its regular meeting and will vote on the budget and tax levy.
The Green Bay Area Public School District is asking voters to approve a $183 million capital referendum. If it passes, the 2024 mill rate is projected to be $7.65 per $1,000. That is about a 7% decrease from the 2023 mill rate of $8.26. If the referendum does not pass, the 2024 mill rate will be $5.30 per $1,000 of fair market value.
