It is hurricane season, and in the wake of storms of historic proportions the need for blood donations remains high. There is always a need for continuous supplies of blood. When natural disasters hit that steady supply can get depleted. America’s Blood Centers, in connection with all blood collection facilities in America, are encouraging qualified adults to donate or schedule appointments for donation now.

The American Red Cross is offering a $10 Amazon gift card for donations with them (while supplies last) and all donors are automatically entered for a chance to win a $5000 gift card. Visit the American Red Cross website (here) to schedule a donation, and/or donate money for those affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton. There are four upcoming American Red Cross blood drives in the area this month. First, on Thursday October 10th from Noon until 5:00 PM you can donate at Lake Arrowhead in Nekoosa, WI. On Thursday October 17th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM you can donate at McMillan Memorial Library in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. There is a drive on Wednesday October 30th from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Nekoosa High School in Nekoosa, WI. Lastly, on Thursday October 31st from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plover, WI.

The Community Blood Center, though primarily a regionally focused donation center, is utilizing its national organization to benefit those affected by this historic hurricane season. The national network of Community Blood Centers will be sharing their supplies with their Southeastern counterparts during this time of increased need. To donate with the Community Blood Center you can visit their website (here). There are three upcoming Community Blood Center drives in the area this month. On October 28th from 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Former East Junior High building in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
